On this week's Silicon Valley Insider, host Keith Koo continues his series on Ariticial Intelligence and interviews special guest Gary Smith who is the Fletcher Jones Professor of Economics at Pomona College in Claremont, Ca. Gary was also a professor at Yale and has written over 80 academic papers and 13 books and with his most recent being "The AI Delusion".
Keith and Gary talk about why Gary wrote his book and why AI is not yet ready to take over the world. AI is good for very specific tasks but not yet ready for task that involve critical thinking or human judgment. Gary is noted for a term he uses frequently "torturing data" in reference to finding causation in any data set whether valid or not. As a reminder, "correlation is not causation".

For the Cyber-Tip of the week, Keith talks about what to do if you had files lost from the Windows 10 upgrade.
In next week's show, Keith will intereview Jotham Ty who is the Founder and CEO of Gappify a Silcion Valley startup developing accounting "bots". Instead of training entry level accountants, Joatham is training people to develop accounting bots. Tune in next week to about Gappify.
